Long term programmes
Overview
Graduating from a renowned fine art or music institution with a BA or MA equips an artist with unique competencies in classical and contemporary arts or music, enhancing their competitiveness in the international cultural arenas.
Art and music higher education institutions in Italy are highly competitive and require linguistic proficiency alongside a high standard of musical or artistic capacities. Mantinea’s preparatory programmes enable young artists not only to enrol in, but also to take the fullest advantage of, their BA or MA studies, and thus strengthen their chances of pursuing successful careers in art and music institutions worldwide.
Our Approach
At the Mantinea Institute, artists interested in studying in Italy in order to become professional musicians or successful creators are supported in the development of their vocation in ways otherwise unavailable to the international community.
Our programmes are tailored to each candidate’s particular needs and circumstances. Tutorials are provided by active conservatory and fine arts academy faculty, who serve as coaches and mentors in art disciplines and music. Language and Italian culture courses are based on interdisciplinary exposure and include multimodal immersion.
The total number of hours for the programme in its standard version, is 16 hours per week and 72 hours per month. The total supervised curriculum in the Mantinea Institute’s programme thus amounts to 436 hours, starting in December and ending in June.
Weekly hours for all disciplines typically include: 10 hours of language, 3 hours of instrument or art, 2 hours of theoretical subjects including interpretation, analysis, aesthetics, history, and theories of music and art, and 1 hour of personal coaching. In December, 4 hours of coaching are conducted with the aim of creating a personalised study plan for each student.
